What child (or adult for that matter) doesn’t love monkeys – especially monkeys in their natural environment? On a very hot and humid day on Langkawi (Malaysia) we visited Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls, also known as the Seven Wells. The Waterfalls are great to see but it’s a steep, heart-pounding climb. I think it’s over 600 stairs that are made all the more difficult due to the steamy heat and, in our case, the weight of a wriggly baby in a sling. We’d heard that there were monkeys in the area and were delighted to stumble across this lot! It was our first experience of seeing monkeys up close in the wild and they were a much needed distraction from the sharp ascent ahead.

  1. Monkeys normally make me a little nervous, as I can never really tell what they’re about to do next, but the baby monkey is adorable. I think I might have abandoned the hike to just sit and watch these guys all day.

  2. Monkeys make me nervous too Steve. But these ones were incredibly cute and they weren’t aggressive. Maybe our lack of food was a benefit, it could’ve been a whole different story if we were laden with fruit for our hike.

  3. 600 stairs in humid-heat, carrying a baby, I’m in awe of you! That baby monkey is adorable.
